FAQ

Shipping

  1. Is shipping available?

Yes. We ship almost 40% of our orders.
  2. Who do you use for shipping services?

Customers only requesting cornhole bags receive their product(s) via USPS Priority Mail, which claims to guarantee delivery anywhere in the continental US within 3 days. However, when we ship full cornhole sets (with or without cornhole bags) we use UPS Ground. All UPS shipments are insured in the amount of the product cost to ensure your investment is protected.
  3. How much does shipping usually cost?

Cornhole Bags: $11 for a set or two. Larger quanitity orders will be priced on a quote-to-quote basis. Cornhole Boards: The average price is around $45. Shipping out to the west coast typically bears the largest cost - sometimes up to $75.
  4. Is local pickup an option?

Sure. We are actually headquartered in Chicago, IL. If you're local to Chicago, then yes, you can come pick up your custom cornhole set. However, in some circumstances, if shipping your cornhole set isn't a viable option, we may have a cornhole builder in our network that does happen to be a little closer to you. No promises though.

Company Info

  1. How long have you been in business?

Our parent company, DerrickSmash LLC, has been producing custom cornhole sets since 2006. Philly Cornhole, before being acquired by DerrickSmash LLC has been in business for about the same amount of time and has had just as many customers. Collectively, we have over 5500 customers throughout The United States and a couple hundred outside the US.
  2. How many people do you employ?

As of January 2012, DerrickSmash LLC consists of only two full time employees, and four part time employees. However, we have selectively acquired a network of local cornhole builders around the country that are often called upon during the high volume seasons. That being said, in the months of July and August we have up to 15 different cornhole builders/companies throughout the country producing our orders. Don't worry - we will never contract a local builder that doesn't meet our high expectations of quality and service. Our network of custom cornhole builders is small for a reason.
  3. Where are you physically located?

Our headquarters is located withing the operations of DerrickSmash LLC (derricksmash.com) in Chicago, IL. However, keep in mind that not all orders are produced or shipped from our Chicago location.

  4. Philly Cornhole or DerrickSmash? I'm confused!

In January 2012, Philly Cornhole was acquired by DerrickSmash LLC (derricksmash.com). Mark, the original owner of Philly Cornhole, was no longer able to keep up with the expontentially increasing demand brought on by his success. He created Philly Cornhole from the ground up wasn't willing to just toss it aside. After a couple conversations with Derrick, he decided the best thing for his company was to allow it to continue to grow as opposed to just fading into a company that once was. Derrick took over the company to serve as another marketing hub for derricksmash.com, while making a promise to Mark to never disgrace the company he worked so hard to establish. Still don't get it? We're not even sure if we do - and it doesn't matter! The two top companies in custom cornhole are now one in the same. That's all that matters.

  5. Are your credit card transactions safe? Am I protected?

Our credit card transactions are processed via the Authorize.net Gateway. We maintain complete PCI compliance in accordance to the legal industry standards for credit processing. We can also invoice via PayPal if that is your preferred method. Our Verfied Merchant Seal can be viewed at the bottom of the Frequently Asked Questions page of derricksmash.com.

Products

  1. What kind of lumber do you use?

All of the lumber we use on our custom cornhole products are purchased from companies or brokers that are either FSC or SFI compliant. Our framing materials are typically 1x4, however some of our contracted builders prefer other framing materials such as 2x4 or even 2x3. Whatever the case, a cornhole set from us (or our network of cornhole builders) will meet or exceed regulation requirements. Our plywood (the most important part) will always be a higher grade than the "contractor grades" that one can find at their local big-box store. Our plywood is of the same grade you would expect your kitchen cabinets to be made out of: solid core, stain grade, hardwoods. See the Sustainability page over at derricksmash.com for more details.

  2. Do you make "tailgate" sized cornhole sets?

Of course we can. Custom cornhole sets are what we specialize in and custom means we will build what you want.

  3. Do you use decals?

Our artwork is done by hand. We basically mimic the process of silk screening, but with masking tape and an exacto knife. The custom designs, names and/or logos are applied one layer of color at a time. This difficult process not only shows the pride we have in our product, but also assures you that your cornhole set is 100% genuine. No two sets will ever look exactly the same. 99% of the time we do not use decals – but that 1% of the time exists because we have no choice as our logo application method does in fact have some limitations.

  4. Who manufactures your cornhole bags?

We do. We have dealt with several different cornhole bag suppliers over our first year in business. No one would stand behind their product for as long as we wanted them to. “If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.” We use a commercial grade sewing machine and industrial nylon thread. We are the only company to provide a written warranty on the seams of our cornhole bags.

  5. What are my color options regarding cornhole bags?

Cornhole Bags are available in your choice of 20 colors. Please choose from Black, Red, Burgundy, Royal Blue, Navy, Powder Blue, Periwinkle, Turquoise, Pale Yellow, Goldenrod, Orange, Forest Green, Kelly Green, Grass Green, Gray, Purple, Khaki, Brown, White and Pink.

  6. Do you guys have any reviews?

We sure do. We have been on TV, Radio, reviewed online and even Published. See the Awards and Recognition on our main website.

  7. What is the average turnaround time on a custom cornhole set?

Sometimes the same day, sometimes within a week, and sometimes over a month. We try to keep a stock of Basic Cornhole Boards on hand, but during high volume points of the season, this stock depletes to nothing. When this happens, our turnaround times are drastically increased. Keep this in mind if you are planning to have one of our cornhole sets for your huge July 4th or Labor day barbeque. A good thing is worth waiting for.
